- Once you have a bank account, your bank statement works as proof.
This may be your most important and most difficult document at the beginning 😩. Banks, services and other providers will all ask for it.

The most common proofs of address are:
- 🏦 A bank statement
- 💡 A utility bill
🐔 The chicken-and-egg problem
As you can imagine, you can’t get a utility bill without a flat. And you can’t get a flat without a bank account to pay rent 🔄.
✅ How to break the loop
- 🏨 Temporary accommodation. If they can give you a proof of address certificate, it works for opening a bank account.
- 💼 A letter from your employer. This works if they are a registered visa sponsor (so any big company).
- 🛂 Your Home Office immigration status document.
